コナミは、プレイステーション 2用ソフト「ワールドサッカーウイニングイレブン9」の発売を記念して、ネットワークモードを無料で楽しむことができるキャンペーンを実施すると発表した。期間は2005年8月4日から8月21日まで。
本キャンペーンでは、基本サービスはもちろん、オプションサービスも無料となる。つまり、ネットワーク環境さえ整っていれば、全国の強者たちと手軽に対戦を楽しむことができるということだ。
なお、オプションサービスの「コンペティション」は、前作と比較しても特に機能が追加されているモードとのことなので、無料キャンペーン期間中にぜひプレイしてもらえればと思う。
また、キャンペーン中は、期間終了後（8月22日以降）のネットワークサービスを事前に購入しておく方法と、事前に購入しない方法の2種類がある。事前購入した場合は、8月21日までが無料で、それ以降、各コースが適用されるとのことだが、事前に購入せずに、改めてサービスを購入するときはいくつかの注意点があるとのことなので、こちらを参照してもらえればと思う。
