　2010年3月の発売が発表されたプレイステーション 3／Xbxo 360用FPS「バイオショック2」でプレイヤーは、再びあの忘れ得ぬ海底都市、ラプチャーへと足を踏み入れる。

　物語は第1作目「BioShock（バイオショック）」の約10年後。大西洋岸の海岸沿いでは怪物が少女たちを誘拐し、海底都市ラプチャーへと連れ去っていた。プレイヤーはラプチャーの象徴的存在である「ビッグダディ」となり、老朽化が進みながらも美しい廃墟と化した都市で、答えを探し出すため、そして生き残るためにまだ見ぬ敵を追跡する。

　最新作のマルチプレイヤーモードでは、これまで描かれてきた時代よりも昔の出来事を体験することで、BioShockシリーズの世界観をより深く知ることができる仕掛けが施される。ラプチャーの崩壊が起こった時代、プレイヤーは前作で探索した海底都市ラプチャーにおいて、プラスミドとトニックを初めて扱った業者「シンクレア・ソリューションズ」の商品テスターとなる。
