エレクトロニック・アーツは、Xbox 360／プレイステーション 3／プレイステーション 2／PSPで発売予定の「NBA LIVE 09」のワールドワイドのパッケージカバーとスポークスパーソンに、サンアントニオ・スパーズのポイントガードであるトニー・パーカー選手を起用したと発表した。
パーカー選手は2度のNBAオールスター出場、NBAチャンピオンシップには3度進出し、2007年NBAファイナルのMVPを受賞した名選手。今回の起用については、「僕はEA SPORTSとはとても長い歴史があるんだ。フランス版NBA LIVEのカバーに5年連続登場しているし、NBA LIVEはバスケットを始めた時からずっとプレイしているんだ。ヨーロッパ人選手としてカバーに載ることを光栄に思うよ」とコメントしている。
パーカー選手のほかに、各地域のカバーに登場するNBAの選手たちは以下の通り。
